KIM COLEMAN & JENNY HOGARTH WITH the Boyle Family Documentation of performance, ICA 2008 duration 8’ 12’’ ~
This work with the Boyle family was a re-staging of ‘Oh What a Lovely Whore’, Mark Boyle and Joan Hills’ 1965 event at the ICA. For ‘Oh What a Lovely Whore’ Mark and Joan announced to the audience that 'if you want a performance you have to do it yourselves', inviting people to make a performance using the materials around them. The original score was intended to be re-used and this 2008 re-enactment reconsidered the introduction of avant-garde happenings to the UK and what happens to a work when its score is re-interpreted in a different era. ~
