Pan, tilt and zoom CCTV cameras were installed around Edinburgh and set to looped cycles of pre-programmed positions. The cameras moved automatically, looking at close-ups of the city. Between shots the cameras scanned their surroundings, zooming out and in, briefly revealing the context of their location. The silent footage was projected around the walls of the City Observatory like a digital camera obscura representing the fabric of the city as a series of backdrops.

Staged was commissioned by the Edinburgh Art Festival EXPO fund and produced by the Collective Gallery.
